About…
Wanda Plantinga was born in The Netherlands, where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. Following that, she was employed as an Art Director in design and advertising in Jakarta, Indonesia. She refined her printmaking at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, UK.
The characters in her world, which are almost monstrous but charming, mysteriously depicted as descendants of her imagination, are inspired by her Western and Asian background. Her grandparents came from Indonesia, Swiss, and The Netherlands. The mystery of the deep waters was a source of fascination for her, having always lived near the sea.
